since my last blog post I have completed 6 garments on top of the minor sewing jobs. I need a break and inspiration. Can’t wait for some warm summer weather, this small warm spell was so lovely I decided to start making summer clothes. I have always been fond of jumpsuits, I made and wore a few over the years and I am very glad they are back in fashion. So here is my version of summer jumpsuit ( or some people may know it as “romper” )
I have been experimenting with different rolled hem feet to achieve the best result, and I found an absolute winner – a 1/8 inch rolled hem foot that I can’t even remember buying. I usually struggle with rolled hem – the fabric feed is very tricky to control and in most cases I just give up and do rolled hem by hand ( it comes out so much better ). But this one was a definite exception. It has a larger plate and the fabric feed happens effortlessly, the edge is even and it doesn’t mind going over the seams either.
I have also given up on turning my drawstrings inside out and simply used a bias tape maker to fold a straight grain tape, then folded it in two lengthwise and stitched it close to the edge. SO MUCH EASIER. Have you tried those bias tape makers? I love them and I have them in 3 sizes. I know there has been lots said about them, but I need to add my 5 cents. They are extremely useful and I use them pretty much on every project. Here is the picture
Also another little piece of information – it is my birthday today! :) Yay!
